Treacle Tart

You will need For the Pastry:

125g self raising flour

65g butter

You will need For the Filling:

6 tablespoons golden syrup

3 slices wholewheat bread made into crumbs

1 teaspoon lemon juice

 

1. To make the Pastry put all of the flour and half a teaspoon of salt in a bowl and rub in the butter with your fingertips until mixture looks like breadcrumbs.

2. Then press the mixture together to make a dough before setting your oven to 200c/400f/gas mark 6.

3. Now roll out pastry and line the flan dish it before trimming round the edge and keeping the trimmings for a decoration on the top of the tart.Keep pastry dish to 1 side while you make your filling.

4.To make filling put golden syrup into a saucepan and heat gently to melt. Then remove from heat and add crumbs and lemon juice.

5. Spoon mixture into dish and level surface before putting your decoration on top and bake for 25 mins until crisp and lightly brown. THEN ENJOY!!!
